Krieger’s discovery of the June employee injury caused by the truck in disrepair prompted him to launch the investigation into that incident, and additional findings of that led to the ensuing Anfeald probe.

The chain, which became the top pizza seller in the world earlier this year, plans to hire about 30 people at each store.

It’s the latest in a series of departures at the Highland Ultra Plaza, where Fallas, Dollar General, and Taco & Burritos Rancho Grande have also closed in the wake of the Ultra departure and foreclosure.

The North American contingent, which included representatives from Hoffman Cabinets Inc., Innovative Custom Trimworks & Woodmatrix, Widner Product Finishing Inc., Universal Woods Inc., Maze Machinery and Woodworking Network,  also visited cabinet, furniture and closet component manufacturers Ilcam, LAPM Italdecor, Arbi and Novamobili.

They broke ground that same year, brandishing novelty guitar-shaped shovels in front of a giant sand sculpture called “Mount Rockmore,” featuring busts of Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Bob Marley, and Jimi Hendrix. Binkowski’s wacky idea had come to life.

The restaurant served American fare such as blackened ribeye, honey lemon tilapia, a 14-ounce bone-in pork chop, burgers, salad entrees, pickle chips, beer nuggets pizzas and classic sandwiches like the Manhattan and Reuben in a slick-looking, newly renovated space. It got rave reviews, getting four stars out of five on both Yelp and Trip Advisor.

“The old days of ‘build it and they will come’—they don’t exist,” said Dennis Spiegel, a theme park expert who was hired by one of the park’s investors to conduct a post-mortem after it first closed. “It was probably the biggest failure we have ever seen in our industry, in the shortest period of time.”

The Mexican restaurant reestablished itself this summer as The New Tequila Restaurante at Pheasant Valley Golf Course. Located at 3838 W. 141st Ave. in Crown Point, the restaurant brought back its celebrated margaritas and $2 tacos on Tuesdays. But the restaurant is no longer taking walk-in diners as its transitions to a new, unspecified business model.

“VDG has designed a VFD integrated into the motor junction box. This eliminates the long cables required in typical installations, where the VFD is often located in a control room, some distance away from the conveyor drive electric motor. Motor controls and feedback data are accessible from a local or remote source providing quick access, user-based options,” Zander says.

Rowing through the gears, the engine provides suitable power in town and on the highway, too. It pulls away nicely from stoplights, though it doesn’t always feel as powerful as the horsepower figure suggests. Some blame might be attributable to the six-speed manual transmission fitted to our tester. It had long throws and seemed to lacked precision as we hunted for the next gear or downshift. The clutch was easy to modulate, however, and for hard core off-roading adventures, the manual could be the better choice.

"Our patios have been popular," Mendoza said. "When the weather’s nice, everyone wants to go outside. We’re planning to do live music on the weekends, and maybe even some mariachi on Sundays."
