Telecom operators will see a long-term financial advantage by deploying the 5G standalone (SA) standard that uses a 5G-specific core compared with the 5G non-standalone specification that relies on an already deployed 4G LTE core, according to a new white paper from IHS Markit. However, the report, which was sourced by Chinese equipment vendor ZTE, concluded that those findings aren’t likely to change the minds of many operators.

National aluminum fabrication firm Gateway Extrusions, headquartered in Union, Mo., has promoted Simone Bradley to maintenance manager for the company’s manufacturing facility.  Bradley and her staff are responsible for all maintenance and repair of production equipment and building systems for the entire 170,000-square-foot Gateway facility, which currently operates 7-inch and 9-inch diameter aluminum presses, a vertical powder coat paint line and a full fabrication shop. She directs all machine and building repairs, establishes periodic maintenance schedules for all equipment to reduce equipment downtime, oversees building maintenance projects as well as tool and materials coordination, and works with all OEM vendors and service providers. In coordination with Gateway’s safety manager, Bradley is working to improve safety and fire prevention programs throughout the plant.

Observed: Penne noodles cooling closed inside plastic baggies during the cooling process. Noodles were placed into the freezer for a rapid chill. Required: Any potentially hazardous foods undergoing the cooling process must be either loosely covered or uncovered if protected from overhead contamination.

2. Several bottles of chemicals observed stored directly next to single-use food grade gloves in the storage cabinet in the hall. Person in charge moved the noted chemicals so they are stored below and away from all food, equipment, utensils, linens, and single-use items.
