The descent of the park into its current derelict state was long and messy. The owners continued to grapple with investors over debt repayments and asset seizures; a local Christian non-profit group tried to crowdsource funds to buy the property and turn it into an education and entertainment complex, but came up short; the owners later sold four acres of the park to Medieval Times, the castle-shaped dinner theater on the neighboring plot, which used the land to graze and exercise its horses. Legal filings show that the rest of the site remained the property of FPI MB LLC, a holding company set up by Freestyle Park’s owners.

Thousands of visitors turned up for Hard Rock Park’s grand opening in April 2008, drawn by concerts from the Eagles and the Moody Blues. Theme park nerds flocked to the Led Zeppelin coaster, which was made by renowned Swiss firm Bolliger & Mabillard (“The Maserati of the rollercoaster world,” as Binkowski put it). Todd Davis, a telecoms engineer and theme park fanatic from Charleston, bought a season ticket; he told me the Led Zep ride felt like “gliding on air.”

“They said it couldn’t be done. So we did it anyway," Jon Binkowski wrote in a book available in the park’s gift shop.

Many fans of traditional Mexican food were bummed out when the beloved Memo’s Taco Mex restaurant closed in Highland last fall.

Understanding what we’re looking for (gravel, stumps, NIR spots), we then employ ‘supervised classification,’ which is annotation by experts and validation by subsequent surveys, to determine the optimal planting routes and micro-sites in distinct areas. I would rather not go into the exact techniques we use currently, though they would be familiar to anyone versed in machine learning or spatial quantitative methods, but no one else (as far as we are aware) is collecting the data necessary to create an effective model for planting in forest and rangeland environments.

“About 23 percent of our guests are using it each month,” explains Moises Espinosa, the property’s director of rooms. The amenity is also offered free-of-charge to guests who book through certain travel agents—a way for Andaz to boost some of its most important sales channels.

Glavin Coating and Refinishing is located at 72823 Parr Line. The company was founded in 1978 by Jack Glavin and specializes in blasting and painting in the industrial, commercial and agricultural sectors. Jack’s son Matt Glavin, now president and part owner along with his brother Ben, told the Times-Advance last week that the company will rebuild, he’s just unsure if it will be in the same location because he wants the new facility to be “bigger and better.” He did say, though, that wherever the new location is, it will be in the Hensall-Zurich-Exeter area. In the meantime, he said the company is looking for a temporary facility.

The new JC Bocatas Mexican Street Food restaurant specializes in tacos, empanadas and cemita-style tortas that are served in a sesame seed-covered roll similar to a brioche bun.
